Released in the early 1970s during a rise in “living apart together” relationships, De la Parra’s film explores a tumultuous couple, Frank and Eva. Frank seeks constant flings, while Eva desires commitment and family. Initially deemed too explicit, the film reflects changing societal norms and relationship models.
PLot
Frank, a serial cheater, repeatedly betrays his girlfriend Eva. When Eva reveals a pregnancy, Frank abandons her for a younger woman. Eva finds solace with a mutual friend. Max, an older acquaintance, warns Frank of potential regret. Despite its sex scenes, the film explores the consequences of Frank’s lifestyle.
